Jeanine LaNell Walters, 79, Powell, died peacefully on Thursday, May 8 at the Powell Valley Care Center.

The daughter of Lionel and Alma Loiseau, she was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Walla Walla, Wash. She had one sister, Mitzi, and two brothers, Euan and Armand Loiseau. Jeanine was raised and educated in Pasco, Wash.

Jeanine met and married James Albert Walters April 15, 1951, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Together they raised six children.

Jeanine had a zest for life and a great sense of humor.  Her interests included playing games, cards, reading, bowling, gardening, telling jokes, crocheting, camping and traveling.  Her passion was spending time with family and friends along with shopping with her daughters and granddaughters. Even when dealing with the effects of a stroke and Parkinson’s disease, she always had a positive attitude. Jeanine was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her surviving family includes children, John (Diane) Walters of Bakersfield, Calif., Mary Kay (Dave) Knudsen of Kenai, Alas., Jim Walters of Foster City, Calif., Nancy (Gary) Axthelm of Cody, Joe (Katie) Walters of Bozeman, Mont., and daughter-in-law, Judi Walters of San Carlos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jeanine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Jerry; and her sister, Mitzi.

A celebration of life was held at the Powell Valley Care Center on Friday, May 9 .
