Helen Gay Mollenbrink

Former area resident Helen Gay Mollenbrink, 72, died Friday, June 13 in her home in Provo, Utah.

She was born Jan. 9, 1936, in Lovell, to Gay Swan Emmett and Helen Phillips Emmett. She was the oldest of five children.

She married Croft Mondell Workman Dec. 19, 1952. To this union were born six children. They were later divorced. She married Jack Millard Mollenbrink Oct. 26, 1962. Jack had four children from a previous marriage and they became precious to her.

Helen Gay was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving in many different callings. For the past year she had served as a worker in the Provo, Utah, Temple. Her favorite callings were those where she could teach. She had been teaching a beginning art class in Relief Society. Before moving to Utah she served as a member of the search and rescue as secretary.

She grew up on a ranch east of Lovell and loved animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats. She worked hard all of her life. Some of her jobs included waitressing, cleaning out cow stalls, working for Great Western Sugar factory, working as a Certified Medical Secretary and as an art assistant at Northwest College in Powell.

Art was a great love of her life. She graduated from NWC and enjoyed being able to teach there for many years. Pottery was one of her favorite mediums. She also loved to knit and crochet and enjoyed giving away her work. Helen Gay had a “green thumb” and loved gardening, as well as growing indoor house plants.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Jack; her mother and father; brother Wallace Emmett; son Kenneth Workman; step-don Gary Mollenbrink; grandson Ryan Mollenbrink and great grandsons Tyreal and Hyrum Humpherys.

Survivors include her daughter Claudia (Lloyd) Mayes of Lovell; sons Robert (Ange) Workman of Morgan, Utah, David (Karen) Workman of Orem, Utah, Dell (Leisha) Workman of Spokane, Wash.., and John (Debra) of Provo, Utah; step-son Terry (Jan) Mollenbrink of Greybull; step-daughters Sherry (Bill) Byxbe of Billings and Andrea Hawthorne of Powell; sister Sandra (Marion) Dalene of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brothers Robert (Darlene) Emmett of Maple Grove, Minn.; and Don (Sherry) Emmett of El Mirage, Ariz.; brothers-in-law Merritt and Eldon (Marty) Mollenbrink of Sundance; sisters-in-law Ella Mae Gaylord of Sundance, Donna (Harvey) Spracher of Gillette, Janet Emmett of Belle Fourche, S.D. and Shirley Emmett of Powell.

She leaves behind 30 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
