Robert E. (Bob) Feyhl passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the age of 88. Bob was born March 11, 1920, in Cody to Fred and Carrie Feyhl. He was raised mostly in Meeteetse, but graduated from junior high school in Kalispell, Mont., before returning to finish high school in Meeteetse.

Bob learned automotive mechanics and welding as a young man and took those skills with him as he enlisted in the Army Air Force in January, 1941. His military unit supported battles and campaigns in Burma, India and China. Bob spent most of the war in India fulfilling the duties of a sheet metal mechanic repairing airplanes. He earned the American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and received the Distinguished Unit Citation for his hard work in India. He was honorably discharged from the military in September, 1945.

In January, 1948, Bob married Doris Olson in Evanston, Wyoming. They shared Doris’ daughter, Kennedine, from a previous marriage and had three boys, Robert, Scott and Dennis.

Bob worked as an auto mechanic his entire adult life, starting at Streeter Chevrolet in Salt Lake City and finishing with his own shop in Cody, which he started with his brother Clarence. He earned the love and respect of many residents and travelers as he performed superior service at fair prices.

Throughout his life, Bob helped others less fortunate in any way he could. He loved the outdoors and taught his family how to fish and camp in the mountains of Wyoming.

Bob is survived by his brother, Clarence (Mary) of Cody, his daughter, Kennedine and family of Casper, his son Scott (Sandy) and family of Red Lodge, Mont., and his son Dennis and family of Wheatridge, Colo.

He will be deeply missed by his family and by those whose lives were positively impacted by him.

At his family’s request, no public services will be held. Bob’s life will be celebrated at a memorial to be held, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the VFW Hall in Cody at 2 p.m.. Interment has taken place in Riverside Cemetery.
