Clifford Robert Bud Snyder, Jr., 69, died early Wednesday morning, June 11, in Dallas, Tex., ending an heroic battle with lymphoma and leukemia.
A standout football player and wrestler at the University of Wyoming, Bud was known by all as a man of fierce integrity, fiery opinions and a heart to serve others.
He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Worland. Bud was the third of four children and grew up working the family dairy farm. After graduating from UW, Bud married Marcia Tippets, coached football and started a family. Transplanted to Hereford, Tex., they had three more children before relocating his family to McAllen, Tex.
Bud and Marcia moved to Dallas in 1997 and Bud received a kidney transplant from Baylor Hospital. Members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Bud loved to sing in the choir and serve others. He was also a deacon serving alongside both his sons and son-in-law at Prestonwood. His number one hobby was his grandchildren. Bud was a loving husband, a faithful father, a doting grandfather, an outstanding cook, a Longhorn fan and a Wyoming Cowboy to the very end.
Surviving are wife Marcia of 47 years; his brothers, Bill and Lloyd; his sister, Joanne; his four children and their spouses, Lisa and Kelly Cassels of Roswell, N.M, Rob and Candace Snyder of Plano, Tex., Tricia and Dan Panetti of Plano, Tex., and Matthew and Suzette Snyder of Frisco, Tex.; and his 13 adoring grandchildren.
Memorial services were held in the Prestonwood Baptist Church sanctuary on Saturday, June 14, with Pastor Neal Jeffrey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the Bud Snyder Memorial Fund.
