Former Powell area resident Pauline Kathryn McMath, 96, died in her sleep Sunday, May 25 at West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody.

She was born may 7, 1912, at West Palm  Beach, Fla., to James Levi and Elsie Winfred (Hull) Strickland. She was raised and educated at West Palm Beach.

She moved to Wyoming in 1936 to visit her sister and met Winchell McMath. They were married Aug. 14, 1937, and farmed in the Riverside community south of Powell for 40 years before they sold the farm and moved to the O’Donnell area west of Powell in February of 1967.

Pauline enjoyed crocheting, fancy work, gardening, taking care of her flower beds and her cat, Peaches. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Riverside Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Fred) Schock; son Connie (Shirley) McMath; grandchildren Tara Schock Hart and Greg Schock of Cody, Marilyn Schock of Colorado and Michael McMath of Florida; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers; her husband; and a great-granddaughter.

The family suggests donations may be made to Caring for Powell Animals, P.O. Box 504, Powell, WY 82435 or the Humane Society of Park County, P.O. Box  203, Cody, WY 82414.

Cremation has taken place, and in accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.  Ballard Funeral Home handled arrangements.
