Former Powell resident Art Litton died Friday, April 20 in Green Valley, Ariz. He was 89.

He was born on his parents’ farm outside of Garland on Dec. 16, 1917. He was the only child of Arthur Guy Litton Sr. and Letha Beckwith Litton. He graduated from Powell High School in 1935.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands. He later married Neva Wollam.

Art worked for Amoco Oil in Elk Basin until he retired at age 55. He moved to Boulder City, Nev., where he enjoyed fishing and playing golf. In the later years of his life, Art spent time with his daughter, Jennifer, in Christiansburg, Va., and then with his daughter, Kathi, in Green Valley until his death.

At age 87, Art learned to use the computer and enjoyed e-mailing friends and family. He was a charter member of the Powell Elks Lodge and a life member of both the Powell VFW and the Kalif Shriners

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wives, Neva and Tiny; his son, Larry Litton; and his grandson, Darren Liner.

Art is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Litton Frank and Kathi Litton George; son-in-law Charles George; granddaughter Dayna Liner; and nephew Greg Bentley and niece Debbie Terry, both of Powell.

Cremation has taken place, and at his request there will be no services.
