Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Basin for long-time Basin resident, Ethel Rose Wheeler, 81. She died Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Powell Valley Care Center where she had been a resident.

She was born April 23, 1925, in Powell to Malcom Andrew and Mary (Elder) McPherson. She attended Powell schools and later studied music at Northwest Community College and the University of Denver.

She married Hershel Eggerman in June of 1946 in Powell. To this union were born three children: Craig Noel Eggerman, John Ross Eggerman and Carolyn Rose Eggerman. They moved to Basin in 1956. Hershel Eggerman died Feb. 11, 1970.

Ethel was a music teacher and taught many children to play the piano and some to play the organ. She enjoyed playing and was organist at the United Methodist Church in Basin from 1956 to 2001 before retiring.

She married Joseph Nelson Wheeler, Sr. on Dec. 28, 1973, in Billings, Mont. They made their home in Basin.

For a time, she was "the voice of Basin" on a local radio station, talking about Basin events and news every day at noon. She loved playing cards, especially bridge. She enjoyed going to the Big B in Basin to meet her friends for coffee. Before her health stopped her, she liked to travel and went to Europe, Panama Canal, Hawaii and other places.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Eagles Auxiliary in Basin.

Survivors include two sons, Craig (Jean) Eggerman of Casper and John (Annette) Eggerman of Jakarta, Indonesia; four grandchildren; and one step-granddaughter.

She was preceded n death by her parents; her first husband, Hershel W. Eggerman; her daughter, Carolyn Rose Eggerman on June 28, 1970; and her second husband, Joseph Nelson Wheeler on Jan. 8, 2000.

The Rev. Jack Preston will officiate at memorial services. A luncheon will follow at the church.
