Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell for Marilyn Jo (Vaill) Montz, 72, who died Friday, Sept. 1 at Powell Valley Hospital.
She was born April 28, 1934, in Yorktown, Iowa, daughter of Hermann P. Vaill and Iona Marie (Norman) Vaill. She was raised and educated in Iowa and married Ellis Montz July 11, 1952. They lived on a ranch at Scottsbluff, Nebr., for a time before moving to Powell in 1965. They were married 45 years until his death in October of 1997.
She was a homemaker and worked in the kitchens of a number of restaurants in the community. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed needlework, embroidery, yard sales and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Allen Montz (Barb) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Darrell Montz of Graham, Wash.; a daughter, Rebecca Denniston (Nick) of Oklahoma City; a brother, Jerry (Betty) Vaill in Missouri; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis; and brothers Bill and Kenny Vaill.
