Rev. Gerald Mathiot Cover

The Rev. Gerald Mathiot Cover, Jr., died Friday, Sept. 1 at the Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was born Jan. 23, 1926. in Stubenville, Ohio, to Gerald M. and Mary Ernestine (Van Fleet) Cover. He graduated from University High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1944 and attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He graduated in 1947 and attended Seminary at Drew University in Morris Town, N.J.

In 1948, he was married to Patricia Ann (Yarian) Cover. In 1954 he became a rector of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Fall River, Mass.

In 1971, they moved to St. John’s Parish in Powell. In 1981, they moved to Colorado Springs, Clo.

He is survived by his wife Patricia and children; Lin Cover, Annie (Douglas) Cover Fry, Jim Cover and Christopher Van Fleet Cover. There are three grandchildren: Tychia Fry, Kelsey Fry and Christie Cachatt.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Grace Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) Sept. 7 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
