Reinold (Ron) Sump

Reinold (Ron) Sump, 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 15 at his Byron home after a brief fight with cancer.

He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Leigh, Nebr., to Eric and Dora Sump. He married Jeanette Heimer in Powell on June 11, 1961.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1953 during the Korean War and was stationed for a time at Trinidad.

He enjoyed having family around him, especially his grandchildren. He loved being on a tractor and farming, and he enjoyed camping.

Survivors include his wife Jeanette Sump of Byron; sons Jay Sump (Shannon) of Byron and Steve Sump (Lynn) of Waynesboro, Va.; daughters Linda (Jerry) Spomer of Powel and Leslie (Steve) Suko of Great Falls, Mont.; brothers Bob (Loretta) Sump and Harold Sump, both of Billings, Mont.; sister-in-law, Charlotte Berryman (Bill) of Powell; brother-in-law Dan Heimer of Powell; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Heimer of Powell; and seven grandchildren, Ted, Brandie, Eric, Michael, Kacey, Amanda and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Richard.

Funeral services are pending.
