Memorial services for David R. Jacobsen, who died Tuesday, June 20 in Thermopolis after a short illness with cancer, will be Friday, June 30 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis.

He was born Aug. 7, 1981, in Tacoma, Wash., son of Mona Lisa Riddle. Upon the marriage of his mother to A.J. Jacobsen, he was then adopted by A.J. The family moved to Powell when David was a small child. He attended school in Powell and also Job Corps. A jack of all trades, his true calling was welding and turning a wrench. In Powell, he worked as a waiter, cook, a welder on continuous fence, a machinist and a mechanic.

He moved to Thermopolis to be near his parents, and he met Amy Emerson. They were married Dec. 31, 2003. He was diagnosed with cancer in September, 2005.

His two children, ages 1 and 2, were his pride and joy. He would watch cartoons with them, jump in a baby pool just to make them laugh, put them to sleep, hold them when cried and change a diaper on occasion.

Survivors are his wife, son Michael and daughter Sydney of Thermopolis; parents A.J. and Mona of Thermopolis; brothers, Walt Jones of Laurel, Mont., and Chance Jacobsen of Thermopolis; grandparents, Byron Jacobsen and Donna Clark and various aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pastor Harvey Seidel will officiate at memorial services. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
