Former Powell resident, Pete Cordes, 44, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, in Lonetree, Colo., where he resided for the past few years.
He was born Nov. 27, 1962, in Powell to Forrest D. and Victoria Cordes.
He lived in Powell as a youth, as well as Iran and Venezuela, where his father worked for various oil companies. After high school, he attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, where he learned automotive body repair. He worked various jobs throughout the years, with his most recent position with a fiber optics company, XO Communications, in Lonetree.
Family was very important to him, especially his nieces and nephews who he spent as much time with as possible. He loved watching movies, his Nissan 350Z and his dog, Elmo. He was a straightforward guy — he either liked you or he didn't, and he would do anything for a friend.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Yvonne Eaton.
He is survived by his parents, Frosty and Victoria Cordes of Powell; one sister, Suzan Velasquez-Grenier of Boulder, Colo.; and three brothers, Randy (Peggy) Cordes of Casper, Rene (Laurie) Cordes of Powell and Victor (Colleen) Cordes of Greeley, Colo. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews Michelle Garrett; Justin Cordes; Hannah, Teagan, Zane and Ryan Cordes; and Dylan Cordes, as well as two great-nieces, Randi and Brooke Garrett.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will take place at a later date. Donations in his name can be made to a charity of choice.
