Former Powell resident Jared James Rodriguez, 37, died on May 20 in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born July 20, 1968, and was raised on the family farm in Powell. He attended schools in Powell graduating from high school in 1987. He moved to Minneapolis shortly after graduation and fell in love with the area, living there until his death. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1996 and became a successful businessman in the Minneapolis area.
Jared married Karen Wilson, and to this union were born Tayler James, 5, and Alaina Marie, 3.
Jared had an enthusiasm for life and lived it to the fullest. He was overflowing with personality and made friends wherever he went. Jared especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and children and spent many hours working on their home and yard. He enjoyed following professional sports, in particular football and golf.
Jared is survived by his wife and children of Minnetonka; his parents, Dorothy Cool, of Canon City, Colo., and Jim and Becki Rodriguez of Powell; and his brother Jeremy Rodriguez, wife Amy and children Emily and Ryley of Penrose, Colo. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved grandmother, Antonia Rodriguez, who preceded him in death by two years.
Cremation has taken place. Services were held in Eden Prairie, Minn., on May 25. Condolences can be sent to 14423 Spring Lake Road, Minnetonka, MN 55345.
