Ronald "Keith" Howell

Ronald (Keith) Howell, 72, died Saturday, May 6 at the Powell Valley Long Term Care Center from failing health associated with COPD.

He was born March 31, 1934, in Fresno, Calif., son of Joseph Douglas and Agnes Evelyn (Robson) Howell. He married JoAnne Ruth Lind on March 17, 1952, in Fresno.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1954 and worked in construction in California, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Arizona before moving to Powell in 1963. He began work in the oilfields and worked for CD&V Construction for many years. He was later employed by NL Acme Tool and was the manager until shortly after his wife’s death. Then he moved to Washington state to manage apartment complexes. He moved back to Powell to be near family when his health began to fail.

He was a member of Eastern Star and was a Mason and a Shriner.

He loved the outdoors and found great beauty in almost any type of terrain. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any type of sports. He was especially fond of bowling and golf.

He enjoyed his yard and the flowers and color in a bright garden. He loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings, especially surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Dorothy Olson (Merlin) of Powell, Pam Larsen (Lester) of Great Falls, Mont., Connie Thull (Steve) of Powell and Ron Howell (Penny) of Laurel, Mont.; his grandchildren, Corey St. Laurent, Kelly Long, Leddy Chancler, Nathan Olson, Kristina Larsen, Casey Carter, Tammy Kotar, Steve Thull, Trenton Thull, Sherry Howell, Keith Howell and Heather Howell; his great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kirsten Thull, Autumn Brown, Candice and Austin Thull, Lauren Howell and Harrison St. Laurent, Jessie Olson and Kristen Massey, Taylor and Chance Olson, Hunter Carter, Degan Howell, Hunter, Jory and Aeolynn Howell, Dillon and Jayden Cunning and Nathan and Colton Devries; and a brother, Floyd Douglas Howell of Port Orchard, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnne and his parents.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.
