Mildred L. Barnes, 84, of Ralston, died Thursday, Dec. 1 at the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.

She was born on June 9, 1921, in Colorado. She grew up in southeast Colorado but moved to southeast Kansas to live with her sister, Opal, during her high school years. It was in Kansas where she met and married Harold L. Barnes. They moved to Powell in 1945.

Survivors include four sons, Phil and wife Sheryl, and two grandchildren, Michael and Steven, of Manhattan, Kans.; John and wife Rita, and two grandchildren, Joe and Travis, and one great-grandchild, Anthony, of Cheyenne; Jerry and wife Bonnie of Vernal, Utah; and Don of Ralston. She is also survived by her sister, Opal, of Gerard, Kans., and one brother, Willard, of Rangley, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Barnes.

The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Powell. Cremation has taken place. Friends may contribute to the Ronald McDonald House in Billings, Mont., in her memory.
