Graveside funeral services were Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery for Everett Cole, Jr., who died Thursday, Nov. 17 in Powell. He was 76.

He was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Houston, Mo., son of Everett Cole, Sr. and Tiny Dell (Kelly) Cole. He married Ruth Ann Hoover, and they lived in Powell.

He was previously a member of the Elks and the Eagles, and he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and chariot racing.

Everett “Jr.” was a quiet, soft spoken man, but if one took the time to listen, one would hear a word of encouragement or a subtle joke. He had a soft spot for children and animals. “Breaking” a horse was not his style; he preferred to be “working buddies.”

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Cole of Powell; a son, Steve Cole (Cathy) of Wartburg, Tenn.; three daughters, Denise (Roger) Williams of Deer Lodge, Mont., Susie Goss of Modesto, Calif., and Cheryl (John) Yount of Silver Bow, Mont.; two stepsons, Stephen (Kathy) Heaton of Garden City, Kans., and Rodney (Priscilla) Heaton of Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Jane (Terry) McIntosh of Cody and Bonnie Buhler of Powell; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; 19 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great grandchildren.

Elder Lowell Baker presided at graveside rites, with arrangements by Thompson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Lynn Adey, Wayne Mathews, Kyle Hanson, John Young, Mike Warner and Jason Morgan.
