Services for LaVern Dean Groskop of Powell, who died Oct. 23 at Powell Valley Healthcare, will be Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church in Powell. He was 74.

He was born May 13, 1931, in Cozad, Neb., to Jake and Alice (Pietz) Groskop. After graduating from school in Billings, he married Alta Todd on Aug. 26, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and worked as an electrician for Modern Electric after his military service. He also worked at Northwest College in Powell for 22 years. He loved gardening, golfing and singing and was known to all as a fine whistler.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alta, of Powell; one son, Dan (Cheryl) Groskop of Powell; two daughters, Sheryll Larson of Phoenix and Marian (Steve) Scott of Powell; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a grandson.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.
