A memorial service Saturday, Aug. 27 in Riverton celebrated the life of Roy Eugene Reno, 77, former resident of Powell.
He died Monday, Aug. 22 at his home north of Riverton.
He was born June 10, 1928, in Joliet, Mont. a son of Nioma (Stacey) and Neil Hurley Reno. He was raised in Powell, graduating from Powell High School and Northwest Community College. He earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Wyoming and in 1969 received a master’s degree in education at UW.
He married Vivian Cook in Riverton Aug. 11, 1960. He began his teaching career in Fremont County as a high school agriculture teacher in Pavillion, then directed the ag program in Riverton from 1954 to 1981. After retiring from teaching, he started a sod farm business, “The Sod Father,” which he sold in 1993.
He was a long-time FFA adviser and was made an honorary member of the Wyoming Future Farmers of America in 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Vivian, in Riverton; three daughters and their husbands, Lisa Newberry, Pam Baudendistel and Charla Dietz; a son, Steven Reno; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Reno in Bismarck, N.D.; three sisters, Marge Scholz, Doris Butler and Helen Beckwith; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.
