Betty Jean Ryles died Aug. 5 in Billings from complications of COPD. She was 75.

She was born in Hollingsworth, Kan., on July 17, 1930, to Clarence and Lula Hennerberg. She had three sisters and two brothers.

At an early age, she and her family moved to Powell. There she met and married Joyce C. Ryles, the love of her life, on Oct. 30, 1947. They lived and farmed on the East Willwood. Together they raised three children.

She loved her family very much. She loved to spend her time camping at Cooney Reservoir, and whenever possible would meet her kids and grandkids there to fish and water ski. She also loved camping in the Bighorns with her brother and sister-in-law, Wanda and Norman Meidinger.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Laurel) Ryles of Greybull, Nicki (Bill) Hagemen of Colstrip, Mont., and Kim (Curt Boehm) of Billings; grandchildren, Amy (Bob) Craft and Kelly Ryles, both of Greybull, and Jason (Genia) Hagemen, K.C. Hagemen, Mike Hagemen, Dylan Boehm and Conner Boehm, all of Billings; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Hazel Lafarge and Evelyn DeVera of Billings; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Ryles of Billings; and a brother-in-law, Norman Meidinger of Powell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Don and Bud Hennerberg and a sister, Janice Tregear.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. at Apostles Lutheran Church, 3140 Broadwater Avenue in Billings. Burial will follow at Terrace Gardens Cemetery.

Smith’s West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
