Former Heart Mountain homesteader Lela Enola Wade died peacefully at Pioneer Manor in Gillette on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the age of 90.

She was born Lela Enola Linderman near Scotia, Nebr., daughter of Fred and Ethel Linderman. She was the second oldest of ten children. She married Howard Oral Wade in 1938 in Montana. In 1942, they were blessed with their first son, Wayne Franklin Wade, and four years later they moved to a homestead on Heart Mountain between Powell and Cody. After arriving at Heart Mountain, they had their second son, Dean Hal Wade, who died shortly after birth.

When son Wayne graduated from Powell High School and entered the U.S. Navy, the Lindermans sold the homestead and lived in several different Wyoming towns the rest of their lives.

Family will remember Lela as the kind of person who always had time to smell the flowers and to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was a faithful follower of her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She always took great pride in her flower gardens, friends, family and most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Wade and wife Janet of Green River, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and seven sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Oral Wade; her son, Dean Hal Wade; a brother and a sister.

She was laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Powell, Friday, Dec. 3 by her loving family and friends.
