Long-time Powell nurse and resident Mary Lois (Heasler) Jacobson died March 18 in Grand Junction, Colo., at the age of 74.

She was born in Florence, Colo., on May 11, 1928, to John and Margaret Heasler. She moved with the family to Powell in 1930.

She graduated from Powell High School in 1946 and received her nursing degree in 1949 from St. Anthony's in Amarillo, Texas.

She married Harold L. Jacobson on Oct. 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1986.

She worked as a Registered Nurse in Powell until 1990 when she retired and moved to Grand Junction. She was a long-time nursing auxiliary member.

Survivors include her children, Becky and Ken Campeau, Debbie Jacobson and John Jacobson, all of Grand Junction, and Stan Jacobson of Big Lake, Alas.; and two grandchildren, Liz and Nic Jacobson. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Christiansen of Powell, and her sister-in-law, Gladys Heasler of Powell, the wife of her late brother, Dick Heasler.

Her family is comforted in the knowledge that she was loved by many and touched by many with her zest for life.

Said her daughter, Becky, "Her compassion and her caring for those of us who needed her was only surpassed by her quest for knowledge and the well being of others. She told us when she got to heaven she had a lot of questions to ask God. Don't we all?"

A memorial service will be held in Powell in May at a date to be announced. For those who wish, donations may be sent to Northwest College Foundation in care of the Heasler Nursing Scholarship.
