Former Powell resident Larry Dean Mooren, 63, died Friday, Oct. 11 in Las Vegas after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 16, 1939 in Morrowville, Kan., son of Merle and Pearl Mooren. He moved with his family to Powell when he was about 10 years old.

He completed his education in the Powell schools, graduating from Powell High School in 1958. He was engaged in the construction industry, building trusses in California.

Survivors include a daughter, Jody Lynn Mooren in Las Vegas; a son, Guy Dean Mooren in Marina, Calif.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Mooren in Las Vegas; three brothers, Merle Mooren of Powell, Hubert Mooren of Byron and Bill Mooren of Denver; and three sisters, Ethel Jean Eden of Powell, Vivian Mooren and Kay Flesher, both of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Starrlyn; and two sisters, Connie and Judy.

Cremation has taken place. Private family burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
