Evelyn Porter

Word has been received here of the Nov. 27 death in St. Maries, Idaho, of former long-time area resident, Evelyn Porter. She was 91.

She was born Feb. 6, 1909, to Fred and Amelia Marquis in Denver, Colo., but grew up in Thermopolis. She graduated from high school there in 1927.

She married Wayne Porter, Sr. in Billings, Mont., on Dec. 28, 1927. They made their home in Byron where she worked for the school district as a lunchroom cook. In 1966, she retired and moved to California.

She returned to Wyoming in 1972 and then moved to St. Maries, Idaho, in 1991 to be near family. A lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge in Powell, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Porter in St. Maries; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne.
