John Todd

Memorial services are scheduled today (Thursday) in Windsor, Colo., for John Todd, the father of a former Powell resident. Mr. Todd, father of Margie Pond, died Wednesday, Dec. 27 in the Windsor HealthCare Center at the age of 90.

He was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Pike County, Mo, the third child of seven born to Ezra Ernest and Emma Lelia Darnell Todd. He married Mary Elizabeth (Billie) Furry in Nelson, Neb., on Oct. 5, 1940. They lived 39 years together in Superior, Neb., until her death in July of 1980. To their union was born one daughter, Margaret Ruth (Margie) Todd Pond of Loveland, Colo.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, participating in battles fought in Rhineland Central Europe. After the war, he entered into a career as a distributor of veterinary products to veterinarians in Nebraska and the Central Midwest. He was president of Blue Cross Serum Company at his retirement in 1973.

Survivors include his daughter, Margie, son-in-law David Pond, and his only grandchild, Lindsay Todd Pond.
