Retired Powell businessman George A. Swenson died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 in St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. He was 76.

He was born in Billings on Oct. 23, 1924, to Ted and Ruth (Fry) Swenson.

He was graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1942 and joined the U.S. Army, serving in France and Belgium during World War II.

He married Jane Terry in 1946 and started working for International Harvester Corp. (IHC) in Billings, Sheridan and Great Falls, Mont., until 1965. He then moved his family to Powell and bought the IHC dealership. He retired in 1980.

Survivors include his wife Jane of Powell; two daughters, Peggy Burnett of Evanston and Laurie Mackey of Powell; and one son, Terry Swenson of Powell; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. For those who wish, memorial contributions to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
