Jane Marie (Fox) Daley, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.

Born on Aug. 1, 1927 to Florence and Harold Fox, Jane spent her formative years (through high school) in Jacksonville, Fla., before moving with the folks to Arizona.

Following graduation from the University of Arizona, Jane worked in Globe, Ariz. She soon enlisted in the Army during the Korean conflict, achieving the rank of sergeant before her discharge. She met her future spouse of 65 years, James “Jim” M. Daley, in San Francisco when both were stationed at the Letterman Army hospital at the Presidio.

Jim Daley was born in Powell, to Mari Mathews.

Jim and Jane began their married adventure on July 1, 1954. They spent their early married years in the Powell-Cody area before Jim went to school in Laramie. Life moved them around from Wyoming, Colorado, Nigeria, Maryland, Virginia, and finally back to Arizona.

While raising her children, Jane completed a master’s degree in social work and then worked a number of years, first for the state of Maryland and then the state of Virginia, before retiring. A voracious reader and skilled card player, Jane will be sorely missed by her doting husband Jim; four children, Tim Daley, Rob Daley, Debbie Branham and Scott Daley; 11 grandchildren and two greatgrand children.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Bob, Leonard and George; and sisters Dorothy and Nancy.

The family requests donations be made to the Women’s War Memorial at www.womensmemorial.org.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Manor at Midvale in Tucson, Ariz.
