Julie Tavegia died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, in Pinedale, surrounded by family and loved ones at her home following a brave fight with cancer. She was 56.

She was born Aug. 26, 1954 in Lander, the daughter of Dorothy Aragon and the late Peter Aragon.

Julie graduated from Wind River High School in 1973. On Jan. 11, 1975, she married Larry Tavegia, her best friend and life’s love. Together, they raised four daughters.

She was a kind and caring person. She invited numerous guests into her home and life, and was loved by many.

A philanthropist, Julie donated to countless charitable causes and events throughout her life. Her other interests included quilting, traveling with her husband and family and enjoying the company of her many friends and acquaintances. She also loved the outdoors, particularly camping and fishing at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; daughters Tanya (Kevin) Martin, Christy (James) Reed, Misty Collinsworth and Lacey Tavegia; mother, Dorothy Aragon; brothers Charles Aragon Sr., Glenn Aragon Sr.; sisters Wanda (Justin) Miller, Monica Aragon, Vonnie (Melvin) Tso and Marie Henan; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Aragon.

Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at Rocky Mountain Hall with Harrison and Arlen Shoyo officiating. A wake was held Dec. 17 at the Dorothy Aragon residence.

Interment will be in the Aragon Family Cemetery in Kinnear.
