(Jan. 11, 1932 - Nov. 18, 2010)Frank Sapp of Powell, formerly a resident of Homestead, Fla. and Islamorada, Fla., died Nov. 18, 2010. He was 78.

Frank was born in Perry, Fla., on Jan. 11, 1932 to Bitha Mae (Holden) Sapp and Eddie Benjamin Sapp. Frank graduated from Taylor County High School in Perry, Fla., and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. Frank was a supporter of FSU football through the Golden Chiefs organization.

Frank married Blanche Downs Willson on Aug. 12, 1949, in Attapulgus, Ga.

Frank moved to Homestead with his wife Blanche in 1951, where he went to work for a bean farming operation. Frank fell in love with farming and began his own farming business in 1964 growing tomatoes. The farm grew into a major commercial tomato farm of 2,000 acres by 1982. Frank retired from farming in 1987 and spent most of his time in Islamorada in the Florida Keys, where he fished and boated with his family and friends.

Frank moved to Powell in 2006 to be cared for by his son, Eddie, and daughter-in-law, Jan. He attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

Frank spent his final year in the wonderful care of the staff at Powell Valley Care Center.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; and brothers Bill Sapp and Ed Sapp.

Frank is survived by his sister, Sarah Brown (J.W.) of Perry, Fla., sister Dot Simmonds (Chesley) of Jacksonville, Fla.; four children: daughters Ann Borgschulte of Lexington, Mass., Jean Wallace (Jerry) of Tavernier, Fla., sons Steven Sapp (Terri) of Florida City, Fla. and Eddie Sapp (Jan) of Powell; 10 loving grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 777 7th Street, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m.

Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
