Tammy Kay (Althoff) Karmann died of natural causes on Oct. 14, 2010 at her home in Hernando, Miss. She was 51.

After graduation from Powell High School in 1977 she attended Floral Design School and worked in/managed flower shops in California, Wyoming, Texas, Japan and Mississippi. She married David Karmann in 1986, and they lived in Texas, Japan, Utah, Illinois and South Carolina before his retirement from the Air Force in 2001. They settled in Hernando in 2002.

Tammy's friends called her the “Social Director.” She loved people and made lifelong friendships wherever she went. She was generous, selfless and very active in her son's schools, her neighborhood, several charities and nurtured her many relationships. She also enjoyed travel and relaxing at the lake with her “peeps” (friends).

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kalcie Karmann; and her mother, Marion (Muller) Althoff.

She leaves behind her husband, David, and son Corey of Hernando; father Glen Althoff of Powell; sister Deb Van Valin (John) of Powell; brother Fred “Joe” (Sharon) Althoff of Farmington, N.M.; father-in-law Del (Marianne) Karmann of Powell; mother-in-law JoAnn (Larry) Rickell of Cody; sister-in-law Linda (Randy) Driscoll of Carnation, Wash., sister-in-law Chris Karmann of Kissimmee, Fla.; brother-in-law Craig (Jody) Karmann of Belleville, Neb.; three nephews; three nieces; and seven great-nephews and great-nieces.

A celebration of life ceremony was held Oct. 23 at the Hernando Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held in Powell on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.
