(Feb. 15, 1940 - Sept. 27, 2010)James M. Bessler, 70, of Powell, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in Billings, Mont.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Powell with Father John Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

James was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Powell, to Nannie G. (Barton) and Felix J. Bessler. He received his education in Powell. He served in the U.S. Army and received a medical discharge in 1966.

James married Ida Onisto on Jan. 8, 1966 in Rock Springs. He was employed by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Rock Springs Police Department, Zanetti Bus Lines, and Sweetwater County School District No. 1. He received numerous law enforcement service awards and safety awards. He was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church. James was retired, and he enjoyed old westerns and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Rosemary, Grace and Lucille; brother Hugo; brother-in-law Lloyd Summers and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; sons Mark (Carolyn) of Powell; Joseph (Tina) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers Raymond (Janice), Felix (Gerry), and John (Barbara), all of Powell; Fred (Sandy) of Imperial, Neb.; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
