(Dec. 14, 1921 - July 6, 2001) Warren Lewis Johnson died Friday, July 6 at West Park Hospital in Cody.He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Powell and spent his childhood in the Red Lodge and Pryor Mountain areas of Montana where he attended Piney Creek School. Later, he went to high school in Powell.He joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and served in World War II until late 1945. After his military service, he ranched for a while in the Pryor area and then worked for the University of Wyoming Agricultural Substation in Powell. In 1952, he became an inspector of weights and measures for the State of Wyoming, and in 1959, he went into ranching on the South Fork. In 1970, he moved his family into Cody and shortly after, he went to work for Husky Oil Company where he stayed until his retirement.He was an avid outdoorsman and finish woodworker and loved a rousing game of pinochle. He thoroughly enjoyed his family and having his family around him.Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Roberta; four children, Larry Johnson and wife Iny of Buckeye, Ariz., Connie Zierke and husband Jerry of Cody, Lance Johnson of Cody and Pride Johnson and wife Marie of Buffalo; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.
