(April 21, 1949 - April 21, 2007) After a short illness, Keith Scott died suddenly Saturday, April 21 at his Powell home on his 58th birthday.He was born in Powell on April 21, 1949, son of Melvin and Jody Scott. He attended Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School in 1967. He attended Northwest College and graduated in 1969, then attended the University of Wyoming and Montana State University before returning to Powell to farm and raise cattle on Mantua Farms northeast of town.The love of his life were his Shorthorn cattle. He enjoyed showing, selling and talking “good” cattle. He has been a director of the American Shorthorn Association and has attended and shown cattle at most major shows. He cherished and phoned often good friends in the industry all over the United States and abroad.He was also a past director of the Deaver Irrigation District.Survivors include his father, Melvin (Mary) Scott of Powell; sister, Kathy Scott of Portland, Ore.; brother, Steve (Marian) Scott of Powell; nephew, Zachary Scott-Singley of Tampa, Fla.; nieces, Ingrid Scott of Portland, Ore., Misty and Cassie Scott of Powell; and his dog, “Koda.”The family is comforted in the belief that the Lord most have needed a “cattleman” to attend his Red, White and Roans. A Keith Scott Memorial fund has been established at Shoshone First Bank in Powell.Viewing will be Wednesday, April 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, with funeral services set at 11 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church.
