(Dec. 3, 1916 - March 13, 2007) Jake Knopp, 90, died Tuesday, March 13, at his home in Cody.He was born Dec. 3, 1916, in McIntosh County, N.D., the son of David and Maria (Dashendorf) Knopp. He married Dorothy Astiles Oct. 9, 1943, in Billings, Mont. His family lived on the Willwood, on Heart Mountain and in Cody. He was a resident of the area for 70 years. He farmed on Heart Mountain, then moved to Cody to work for Husky Oil Company in the early 1970s, and later worked for Marathon Oil Company. He was a member of the American Legion and Christ the King Lutheran Church. Jake enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, playing cards, and outdoor activities. He was a fisherman, hunter and gardener.He is survived by four sons; Richard and Daniel, both of Cody; James and Robert, both of Powell; two sisters, Ruth Kuyatt of Billings, and Helen Sheets of Drummond, Mont.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, a baby daughter, and one sister, Tina Kessel.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cody. Rev. Timothy Klug will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with VFW Honor Guard presenting military honors. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody.Memorials may be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice, 707 Sheridan Ave., Cody, Wyo. 82414, in Jake's memory. Ballard Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

His family lived on the Willwood, on Heart Mountain and in Cody. He was a resident of the area for 70 years.
