Geraldine ‘Jeri’ Pryde NeVille

Geraldine “Jeri” Pryde NeVille of Byron died April 5, 2017, after a short stay in the New Horizons Care Center.

Jeri turned 99 on her last birthday, Nov. 14, of 2016. Her husband, Edwin Jennings NeVille who lived to the age of 99 and a half, preceded her in death.

They were the longest married couple living in the United States when Ed passed away April of 2015, a marriage of 81 years, four months.

Jeri was born in Byron, but at age 5, attended first grade in Elk Basin where her father, Alex Pryde, was employed. Her family also lived for a short time in Lovell and Powell, and in Downey, Idaho, before they settled permanently in Byron. There she met her future husband, Ed NeVille, who was also born and raised in Byron.

They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, lived a long, happy and productive life together and will be well remembered and missed by family and friends. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jeri’s parents were Alexander Pryde and Mary Vervean Denney. Her brother, Robert A Pryde, and her youngest sister, Julia Ann Pryde, also preceded Jeri in death.

She is survived by three sisters, Roselin Kylander and Mary Alyce Whitmore, both of Powell, and Phyllis Mae Smith of Carson City, Nevada. Her sons are Edwin Denney NeVille of Byron and Wallace Jennings NeVille of Vallejo, California. Her daughter, Cody Marie Mazuran, lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ed and Jeri had 18 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the LDS Byron Ward on Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Byron cemetery following the services.
