Shirley Jean Hawkins died Sunday morning Jan. 29, 2017, at the Spirit Mountain Hospice. She was 80.

Shirley was born on Aug. 22, 1936, in Billings to Katherine Krumm and Henry Frank. Shirley grew up in Huntley, Montana. She attended the Huntley Project schools, graduating high school in 1954.

She then moved to Huntington Beach, California, where she met her husband, Willis Hawkins. They were married on July 4, 1959. Their son, Steve was born in 1964, daughter Kathy was born in 1966, and son Mike was born in 1974.

In 1988, when Willis retired, they moved the family to their dream home on the South Fork in Cody. Shirley worked at Walmart where she met some wonderful friends.

Shirley loved to sew anything from pants to purses, and she made beautiful quilts and knitted nice warm afghans. She also loved to go camping and fishing, but her true passion was spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother George Frank, sister Hannah Wright, brothers-in-law Bertal and Ken Hawkins.

Shirley is survived by her son Steve (Wendy) Hawkins of Yankton, South Dakota, daughter, Kathy (Bill) LaFollette, and son Mike Hawkins, both of Cody; grandkids Brad, Mandi and Trenton of Yankton, Tonya Higgins and Trisha LaFollette of Cody, and great-grandkids Teegan and Ava LaFollette of Cody; sisters-in-law Carolyn and Dottie Hawkins; and brother-in-law Freelin Hawkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
