Hilda Charlotte Maiden, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at the Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody.

Hilda was born on April 11, 1928, in Sprendlingen, Germany.

She immigrated to the United States at the age of 18. She had two children, Patty and Lee Herman. Hilda’s greatest joy was her family, spending many happy hours with her children and then her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for them, and she was always sacrificing for her family.

Hilda was a single mom for seven years when her children were very young, until 1961 when a mutual friend introduced her to the love of her life, Bim. They married later that year.

In 1964 the family moved to Cody, where they built and operated Maiden Lumber Company. Bim and Hilda worked side by side for 16 successful years until they sold it to United Building Center in 1980.

In 1978, they purchased Marquette Creek Ranch and raised cattle. As always Hilda was right there beside Bim, working the ranch.

They opened and operated B & H Consignment from 1984 until 1995. The couple then started yet another adventure — spending winter months in Arizona, where they made many new friends during 16 years there.

When they decided to sell their house in Arizona, they lived full-time in their cabin in the Crandall area. Hilda’s favorite pastime was fishing in Beartooth Lake and Island Lake in the Beartooth Mountains.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Herman, and son Lee.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bim; daughter Patty (Bob) Senitte of Cody; grandchildren Sheri (Rod) Schutzman of Cody; Greg and Nancy Senitte of Billings; and Windy (Brad) Smith of Cody. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren: Brooke (Brian) Lozier; Cierra, Shaylee, and Torrie Schutzman; Caden, Ryan and Dean Senitte; and T.J., Sadie, and Kolby Smith. Great-great-grandson Lozier is due to arrive this May.

Memorial donations can be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice. Funeral services will take place Thursday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
