Betty Jo (Woolery) Mollet died Dec. 31, 2016, at the Powell Valley Long Term Care Center. She was 89.
She was born in Pilot Grove, Missouri, to Joseph Scott Woolery and Mary (Krumm) Woolery.
Born in a small town in central Missouri, Betty Jo was surrounded by many relatives. Like Cody and Powell, surrounding communities were available for shopping, visiting and recreation.
She and John W. Mollet were married Aug. 15, 1944.
In 1948, her mother, Mary Ruth (Krumm) Woolery moved to northern Wyoming to help a cousin who was very ill and had a small boy to raise.
Betty Jo worked various jobs before becoming a telephone operator. In the 30 years she was with Mountain Bell, she loved her job. She kept in contact with many of the “pioneers.”
Betty Jo had two daughters, Nancy and Pamela.
She was active in DOES, Eagles, Job’s Daughters and Brownies. She loved doing ceramics at Nora Bovee’s and enjoyed the llamas the Bovees raised on their farm. Betty Jo liked to crochet, do crafts, make her family’s clothes and travel. She didn’t sit still for long; she was always on the go. The heck with that kitchen sink full of dirty dishes.
Betty Jo was loved, and her family appreciates all the love, support and companionship through the years.
Betty is survived by her sister, Joyce Skoric of Cody; daughter Nancy Grant of Powell; grandchildren Tawnia Knopp West of Billings, Tyler Black of Powell, Chantel Black of Eek, Alaska, Karina Black of Cody; great-grandchildren Morgan Black of Powell, Zak Black of Powell, Alyx Black of Powell; and great-great-grandchild Ember Black of Powell.
Memorial donations can be made to Powell Animal Shelter 638 W North St., Powell WY, or Park County Animal Shelter 5537 Hwy 14/16/20 E., Cody, WY.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, at the Presbyterian Church in Cody with burial at Riverside Cemetery and reception to follow at the church. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be with her daughter Pamela. Arrangements are under direction of Ballard Funeral Home.
