(Dec. 22, 1925 - Dec. 15, 2016)

Alice Margaret “Margie” Borron Barling of Meeteetse died Dec. 15, 2016, at the Long Term Care Center in Cody.

She was 90, but for the last 4 1/2 years she thought she was 68.

Alice was born to Robert Holbrook Borron and Huldah (Hoaglund) Borron in Powell on Dec. 22, 1925.

She lived her childhood in Cody where she was an energetic, fun loving child. Margie was soon joined by her siblings Ruth (Sperry), Patricia (Helmbolt), Robert “Bob” Borron, Eva (Warren) and finally baby brother, John “Jack” Borron.

As a young adult, Margie and her best friend moved to Seattle to help with the war effort. She worked as a secretary, for the Army Engineer Corps at the Port of Embarkation. She then returned to Cody and worked at Husky Oil.

She met her “gumdrop” Lloyd Edward Barling from Meeteetse, who was serving as a Navy pilot.

They were married Dec. 20, 1945. She died five days short of 71 years of marriage.

This loving union brought three daughters into the world: Shauna (James) Gibbs, Daria (William) Dooley and Kenli (Randall) Lowe.

Margie was a tireless community volunteer. She was active in many organizations throughout her lifetime, including but not limited to Girl Scouts, American Legion Auxiliary, Job’s Daughters, and the Meeteetse Lunch Bunch.

Margie had a delightful sense of humor and loved entertaining. She collected recipes, cookbooks and friends. She was generous, thoughtful, creative, and gave advice freely (both solicited and unsolicited). She was a great storyteller.

She adored her five granddaughters: Adri (Dooley) Ruby, Lynsey (Dooley) Kling, Sarah (Talbott) Hunter, and Shannon (Talbott) Reiff, boasting of their beauty and brains frequently. She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren.

Margie’s favorite charity was the Meeteetse Senior Center because she loved the food.

The memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Meeteetse at 10 a.m. Dec. 28.

An online memorial is available at www.ballardfh.com.
