Larry H. Slater died on Nov. 29, 2016, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell. He was 72.

He was born to Howard and Norma Slater on Feb. 28, 1944, in Powell.

After receiving his teaching credentials, he went to Lovell and taught ag and FFA for 25 years. During that time, he also started Big Horn Engraving and Sign, a business based in Lovell but which had many customers from around the state.

Larry is survived by his children and grandchildren: Tina Everheart, her partner Bill and her children Scott and Lacee; Tim Slater and his wife Lindsey and his children Shalin and Denna; and Tammy Barnhart and her husband Ron and their daughter Connie. Ten years ago Larry met Kathy, and they became life partners. She has two sons, their spouses, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Kountz of Jordan, Montana, and two brothers, Mike and Jim, both of Powell.

Memorial services are planned for Friday, Dec. 2 at the Lovell High School Gymnasium at 11 a.m. A reception will be held at the Lovell Bible Church immediately following the services. Please come and bring a dish to share.
