Shelia Anne Claudson Blough, 68, died Oct. 19, 2016. Since the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in February 2016, Shelia has been looking forward to glory with Jesus. Her grace and positive attitude during this time touched so many lives, which was her prayer. She called this time her “amazing journey to glory.”
Shelia was born on Jan. 10, 1948, in Powell, to Charley and Ruby Claudson. At age 6, her family moved to a farm on Heart Mountain where she grew up, and Shelia attended Parkside Elementary School. She graduated from Cody High School in 1966.
Shelia attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, Northwest College, and graduated from Eastern Montana College in 1970.
She achieved her lifelong dream of being a teacher, though she began her “on the job training” at an early age with her younger siblings.
Shelia recognized that God had been directing her life each step of the way. She planned to acquire a teaching job in a city, but due to an accident, she was unable to leave Cody. In 1970, she began teaching at Sunset School in Cody.
Shelia met Paul in 1971 and they married in 1972. They built a home and a life on a portion of the farm where she grew up.
Shelia retired from teaching after her children were born to do the highest calling of all: full-time mother and wife. Shelia later returned to Sunset School as a para-educator.
Paul and Shelia have been active in the Cody Christian and Missionary Alliance Church since 1973. She helped out anywhere needed in the church. God used Shelia to have an amazing impact on countless numbers of people, particularly young people.
Shelia loved and lived for God and family. Her grandsons, Noah and Samuel added so much joy and laughter to her life. She will be missed immensely.
She is survived by her husband Paul; son Rusty Blough (Krista); grandchildren, Noah and Samuel Blough; daughter Amber; brother Earl Claudson (Phyllis); sister Rita Claudson Corns; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A quote from her final Facebook post: “I love you all and plan to see you again in the place prepared for us where there is no more sorrow or tears. See ya there.”
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. (reception following) at the Cody Missionary Alliance Church located at 147 Cooper Lane East.
