Bruce Charles Ruward, 81, of Riverton died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Bruce was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Ogden, Utah, to Brucht and Hazel (Jordan) Ruward.

Bruce grew up in Green River and served in the U.S. Air Force being Honorably Discharged in December of 1960 as an airplane mechanic. He attended trade school on the G.I. Bill in Ogden for welding. In 1961 he moved to Jeffrey City, where he worked in the mines. He served with the Jeffrey City Fire Department for many years reaching the rank of Lieutenant.

On Nov. 16, 1967 he married Linda Willcox, the love of his life, in Dubois. Bruce worked eight years as a Lineman for the REA. In 1983 they moved to Powell, where he worked as a lineman until his retirement in January 2000. After his retirement, the couple moved to Riverton.

His family said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and most of all blazing new roads with a Jeep, pickup, and four-wheeler. His wife and kids were the most important part of his life. He cared for all his family and also those he embraced as his own.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by sons Brad Ruward and daughter-in-law Joyce of Powell and Jim Ruward and daughter-in-law Megan of Missoula, Montana; daughters, Vickie Herron of Riverton, Barbara and son-in-law Steve Smith of Riverton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Ruward; sister, Sharon Anthony; brothers-in-law, Jim Willcox and George Parks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, Brucht and Hazel Ruward; son-in-law, Rick Herron; sister-in-law, Ruby Noeleen Parks, and brother-in-law Ron Curtis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. A viewing will precede the service from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Cremation will take place and inurnment will be at the family gravesite at Milford at a later date.
