Stanley Peter Winters, Sr. died peacefully from cancer at Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Aug. 8, 2016. He was 76. 

He was born May 6, 1940, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to Anna and John Mroczkowski.

He served in the U.S. Army and in 1961 he started Winters Trucking, Inc. in Woodbridge, New Jersey. 

On Aug. 29, 1992, he married his best friend, Beverly Bartels-Winters, in her hometown of Alliance, Nebraska. After retiring from Winters Trucking, Inc., he and Beverly traveled around the U.S. in their fifth wheel and attended a freightliner rally in Cody in 2008 and decided to make Cody their home.

Stan served on the stewardship committee at Christ the King Lutheran Church. In his spare time he loved horseback riding with his dear friend, Rod Paris. In the summer months, he loved driving the bus for Wyoming River Trips and considered Ron and Rick Blanchard very special friends. He also loved his part-time jobs with S.E., Inc. of Deaver and was treated like family by Steve Sorenson.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, son, Billy, and his brother, Walter.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bartels-Winters of Cody, his adopted son, Christopher Bartels (Wendy) of Princeton, New Jersey, stepson, D. Anthony Lettini (Denise), stepdaughter, Jodene Lettini of Boca Raton, Florida, son, Stanley P. Winters, Jr. (Bernadette) of Avenel, New Jersey, daughters Joanne Winters of Saddle Brook, New Jersey, Allison Winters Sellmann of Avenel and Michele Hajjar of Avenel; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will take place at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
