Glea Steedley, 85, of Cody, died quietly on June 12, 2016, at Spirit Mountain Hospice House after a three-week health issue.

Glea was born on July 3, 1930, in Jewell County, Kansas, where she and her family lived until she was 15.

They then moved to Florence, Arizona, where she met Dick Steedley at the ripe old age of 17. Dick was 18. They married as soon as she graduated high school. They were married for 62 years when Dick died in 2010 in Cody.

Everyone who met Glea seemed to adore her. She had lots of kids she adopted into her family with open arms and something to eat. She loved to feed everyone who came through her door.

Most importantly of all, she was a top-of-the-line wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Glea was always there for her family and friends, and it didn’t matter if you were in trouble or just needed to talk to her … she was always there with a big heart and loads of jokes. Even on her last day, she was joking around with her family and her nurse Mandy.

Glea was the mother of Richard G. Steedley of Sundance and Vickie Steedley Kirkhoff of Meeteetse; 10 grandchildren: Douglas McKinnon (deceased), Kerri Baumgartner of Evanston, Aimee Binning of Laramie, Ronnie Brown (deceased), Michelle Seeley of Campbell, New York, Steve Brown of Greybull, Chris Twomey of Buffalo, Neci Andersen of Yoder, Marcie Steedley of Glendive, Montana, and Vance Steedley of Sundance. She also had nine great- grandchildren, all of whom loved and adored “Mazy” — her nickname given to her by Doug when he was 2.

Her loved ones will miss the great woman who was Glea Hollenbeck Steedley.

Memorial donations in Glea’s name can be made to the Spirit Mountain Hospice House, 808 Canyon View Avenue, Cody, WY 82414.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
