Betty Jane Ilg, 65, died peacefully Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah.

She was born in Powell on July 31, 1950, to Robert and Evelyn Croft and was one of five children.

Betty grew up loving animals and learning how to work hard as she helped out on her family’s farm. She graduated from high school in Powell and later received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming in home economics education. 

She married Steven Ilg in January 1971, and together they had two children. They later divorced.

Betty was a very loving and caring mother. She enjoyed sewing, reading and playing games with family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and helping them out with various projects. Betty was a dedicated and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the savior, and was a good example of it through her service to others.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Evelyn Croft; brother-in-law Lynn Sorensen; nephew Jeremy Croft; and great-nephew Wyatt Sorensen.

She is survived by her daughter Kirsten (Lane) Bird from Fort Bridger; son Aaron Ilg from Sheridan; brothers Robert (Rena) Croft from Lovell, William (Kathy) Croft from Arapahoe; and sisters Marlene Sorensen from Garland, Utah, and Gaye (Frank) Barrett from Powell.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mountain View LDS Church in Mountain View. 

A viewing will also be held at the Powell LDS Church, 525 W. Seventh St., from 9:30-11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11. Dedication of the grave will be held directly after the service at the Byron Cemetery and then she will be laid to rest next to her parents.
