Mary Jo (Wootan) Page quietly died at her home in Cody, on April 6, 2016, from a pulmonary embolism. She was recovering from a recent foot operation and bronchitis. She was 67.

She was born on July 4, 1948, in Willcox, Arizona, to Joe and Mary Wootan.

Her brother Donnie died at age 4, but the other three children graduated from Willcox High School, and each also graduated from college.

Mary Jo was active in school and community, as a member of the Willcox Methodist Church, Willcox Order of the Eastern Star No. 11, a Willcox High School pom pom girl, a member of the choir and much more.

Before moving to Cody, she lived in Cave Creek, Arizona, for many years. She and her husband, Bill, operated a horse boarding ranch with roping arena.

After her husband died, Mary Jo sold their ranch in Cave Creek, and made the journey by herself to Cody, where she resided for the past three years or so. Almost immediately, she fell in love with Cody, as she easily made friend after friend. She soon became a member of the Cody Elk’s Club and the Does.

The city delighted her with its cleanliness, low crime rate, beautiful scenery, many special attractions and special people. Working at the Trolley Company allowed her to brag about and promote the town she had come to love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Page, parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her sister Millie Barnes (Lee) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. “Jo” is also survived by four cherished stepchildren: Skip, David, and John (Page) and Carrie Page Abts, as well as by her beloved nieces Deanna Bastian and Darla Walschburger. In addition, she has left behind many, nieces, nephews, cousins and a few great-nieces and -nephews. From the Page family she is survived by several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at the Elks Club in Cody. Ballard Funeral Home handled the cremation services.
