Helen Pike

Helen Pike was born Helen Marie Breien on April 24, 1927.

She grew up a farm girl in Wisconsin and in North Dakota. She attended the University of North Dakota where she met and fell in love with George Pike — a fellow North Dakotan who had just returned from WWII. They were soon married.

After a short career as a school teacher, Helen and George started their family: Cathy, Jim, Bob, John, and Laura. Although she put her career as a teacher on hold for her family, she never missed an opportunity to educate her children and grandchildren on proper English, writing and grammar.

Helen, George and family moved to Helena, Montana in 1966 where she lived until George passed away in 1991. She then moved to Powell to be closer to her children and grandchildren — family was always the most important thing to her and she would often remind them to uphold the same values. Along with spending time with her family, Helen enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, reading, playing cards with friends, and solving puzzles.

Helen passed away in October 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Helen was loved and will be remembered by her children: Cathy, Jim, Bob, John, and Laura, her grandchildren: Dustin, Breien, Kelci, Jeremy, Erin, Marissa, Chris, and Jaden, and soon-to-be great-grandchild baby boy Pike. She is also survived by her siblings Hugo Breien and Gladys Bauer. She will be remembered by many other close relatives and friends.

A celebration of life for Helen will be held on April 16, at 1 p.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 2330 E Broadway St., Helena, Montana, 59601.

“We love and miss you, grandma! There will never be a day that we do not think of you. And yes, you done good… (pardon the grammar!)”
