Clell D. Glick

On April 3, 2016, Clell D. Glick (Bill) of Cody died peacefully at the age of 87 with his wife Virginia of 65 years and his family by his side.

Clell was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Moravia, Iowa, to Troy Samuel and Grace Davis Glick and was the youngest of his brothers Jack and Carl.

At the age of 18, Clell was married and had his first daughter, Judy Ellen Waters (Glick). Clell moved the family to California, where he worked on dairy farms and wine vineyards. A short time later, Clell moved back to Iowa and was divorced.

In July 1950, Clell met and married Virginia Ann Showman. In December 1950, Clell was drafted into the United States Army for service in the Korean War. Clell served as a combat engineer in the Korean War from 1950-52. After being honorably discharged from the service, Clell returned to his family in Iowa and worked with his brother Jack doing soil conservation, building ponds and terraces.

In 1956, Clell and Virginia purchased a 120-acre farm in Martinsburg, Iowa where they raised their children: Ron, Joyce, Randy, Marilyn, Julie and Jill. In 1970, Clell sold the farm and moved to Osceola, Missouri, where he purchased a ranch where he raised cattle.

In 1975, Clell and Virginia sold their ranch and moved out west to manage ranches, eventually working at the J Bar 9 Ranch and the Hoodoo Ranch, Palette 1 and Palette 2 in Cody. The last ranch Clell ran was the TTT Ranch in Kaycee, where he retired in October 2006 at the age of 79.

Clell and Virginia moved to their home in Manville before moving to Cody.

Clell was preceded in death by his parents Troy and Grace Glick; brothers Jack Glick and Carl Glick; sons, William Carl Glick and Ron Dwayne Glick.

Clell is survived by his wife Virginia; children, Judy (Sandy) Waters, Joyce Granger, Randy (Janis) Glick, Marilyn (Ray) Craighead, Julie Foote, Jill (Pete) Hicks; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

No formal memorial service will be held.
