Dennis Cannon died Jan. 11, 2016, at the home of his son, Robert Cannon, in Austin, Texas. He was 82.

Dennis was born to Elbert and Madge (Morse) Cannon on May 21, 1933, in Bridger, Montana.

He joined the Navy in 1950 and served as an engineman on a landing ship transport vessel. 

He actively served during the Korean War with tours to Japan and Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1954. 

Dennis married Joye Kettler, from Manville, on April 27, 1954. They had three boys, Mike, Keith and Robert. 

Dennis started his career in the oil fields in 1954, working for his dad on a drilling rig. He was a natural mechanic and he learned diesel mechanics while serving in the Navy. Dennis and Joye later divorced and he went to Egypt and worked as a mechanic on an off-shore drilling platform. He later worked in Saudi Arabia.

Dennis married Elizabeth (Kennah) Wojtech on Sept. 6, 1973. They made their home in Casper. Liz had three sons, Frank, John, and Larry. Liz died on Aug. 25, 1995.

Dennis was cremated and his cremains will be placed next to his wife, Liz, in Casper. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and his second wife. 

He is survived by his sons, Mike, Keith (Cathy) and Robert (Shirley), all living in the Austin, Texas area; his stepsons, Frank, John and Larry; three granddaughters, Hannah, Noelle and Samantha; and his brothers, Delbert and James Cannon of Powell; and former wife Joye Ray of Belt, Montana.
