Thomas Wesley Dyk of Cody died in his home surrounded by his family on Jan. 25, 2016. He was 62.

Tom was the fourth of 10 children born to the late Arthur and Myra Dyk of Billings. He was born March 31, 1953, in Bozeman, Montana.

He graduated from the Montana School of Mines in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering and later was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Tom began his career with Marathon Oil Co in 1975.

He cofounded Orion Energy Partners in Denver in 2004. As chief operating officer, he was the driving force in increasing investors’ capital from $130.4 million to more than $500 million in less than five years.

Tom cofounded Axia Energy in 2009 as chief executive officer. At the time of his death, Tom was chairman of the board of Axia Energy II.

Tom and his wife Mary were married in 1974 and had four children: Wesley (Jacinda, grandchildren Dru and Tate), Jenn (Matt, granddaughter Charlotte), Dustin (Amye, expecting granddaughter Hannah), and Sean (Rachael). He is survived by his siblings Dan (Amy), Lorna, Mary Jane, Sally, Bill (Carol), Joe (Diane), Jeff (Michelle), Janelle and Ramona (Ken).

His most cherished memories were made with family and friends ranching in Colorado, hunting in Montana, fishing trips to Alaska, and traveling to South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, and several states to bow and rifle hunt.

Tom will be remembered for his generous and loving heart.

The most important thing Tom would say about his life was his faith in God, and he would want everyone he knew to know Jesus as their savior.

His memorial service will be held at the Cody Bible Church on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. A graveside service and lunch at the church will follow.

Family and friends are invited to the home of Tom and Mary Dyk for an open house that same day from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship, American Diabetes Association or Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
