(July 8, 1948 - Jan. 14, 2016)

Mary Jane Gracey of Powell died at home in the early evening of Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016. She was 67.

Mary was born July 8, 1948, in Basin, to Reginald McHugh and Dorothy Lawrence McHugh Garber.

Mary attended school in Greybull and graduated in Riverton in 1966. She then attended Sheridan College.

On Aug. 18, 1968, she married John J. Gracey, and the couple enjoyed 47 years of marriage.

Mary was an awesome mom and wife, and she created a beautiful home. She attended the Presbyterian church.

Mary was an artist in every sense of the word. She created the most incredible flower gardens, paintings and quilts.

She was an expert gift-giver, always putting so much thought into what her friends and family would love.

Mary loved to hike and do 5K walks supporting good causes. She also loved to shop, explore, travel and play cards with her friends.

Everyone who met her liked her, and if you had the honor of being close to her, you would get to enjoy her dry sense of humor.

She was always there to listen and be supportive to anyone who needed her.

Mary will be missed deeply, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who love her.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Reginald J. McHugh and Dorothy Garber.

Mary is survived by her husband, John J. Gracey; daughter Jeannie Gracey and her children Cooper and Cecelia Etgen; son John W. Gracey and his children Hannah and Lauren Gracey, including their mother Diane Gracey. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Nena McHugh and their children: Margaret, Debbie, Nancy, Jennifer, Jay and Justin; aunt Corrine Zednick and stepmother Jane McHugh; and half-siblings Brian and Bonnie Mollenbrink and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church in Powell, with lunch served immediately following the service in the basement of the church.

Memorial donations in Mary’s name can be made to Cancer Support Community, 102 S. 11th Ave, Bozeman, MT 59715.

Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
